Radio Soulwax for Dummies

These Belgian Bastards like to confuse us with their four different formats and I can only imagine the question being asked to them in every interview really started to piss them off - maybe that's part of the reason why they made the documentary??
Anyway, this video puts it all in layman's terms. (WARNING: the kid that talks alot at the beginning make make you want to not watch the video but trust me, it's short-term pain for long-term gain!)

If you're willing to take the hit, the video will appear AFTER THE JUMP.

Heartsrevolution

I have an unnatural liking to this pair - there's just something about them and their music that has me drawn to them! I have a sneaking suspicion that it's the romantic in me: a married couple making music together (pun intended and not intended!) - that's just beautiful to me. Also, being the visual junkie that I am, the fact that their art and style is very much part of them and their music kinda makes them the total package!
Anyway, if you haven't already listened to them go do that NOW! It makes me feel all fuzzy and happy!
LA FRIENDLY have also kindly provided one of the remixes from the recently released 'Ultraviolence' 12" and if that doesn't work for ya then you're a lost cause!

Mash-WORLD wishes you all a very Merry Christmas wherever you are and whoever you're with. Hope you're all in good company, listening to good music and eating/drinking copious amounts.

Cassette P L A Y A! x Nike

Nike love their collaborations and they more often than not seem to be a match made in heaven - shoe heaven!
Cassete Playa is the new love interest for the blazer. It was bound to happen what with CP becoming more and more notorious for its unique take on urban/street style.
If you wanna know more go check out the interview with Carrie Mundane on Sneaker Freaker HERE. Carrie is the founder and designer at CP and she is disgustingly interesting and beautiful and stylish.........

Check out the kicks!

Poney Poney

I like these lads - they're very courteous! When they added me on MySpace a good few months back, they were sending personal messages to everyone and personally replying!! That always impresses me for some reason.
The music is MEGA and I'm quite surprised that no one is raving about them yet, it's quite baffling!
Here's the newest video (nice!):

Outkast - southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

This was back in the day when you just got the raw deal. The southernplayalisticadillacmuzik album reminds of my days of working away in a little known urban shop in the GPO arcade. The best track on the album is the title track (don't wanna write it again!), followed by "Player's Ball" and "Ain't No Thang". Check them all out

Gotta give you the url for southernplayalisticadillacmuzik because I can't embed it and you need to see it!!

Le plus beau Noël avec institubes.........

I would do a Bart and sell my soul to Millhouse to go to this party!
CUT KILLER FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!! The man is the best hip hop DJ to come out of France and probably Europe - in fact I'm gonna do a post on him really soon.....you'll see, YOU'LL ALL SEE!!!!

The Virgins

Very much enjoying this band right now - it's the funkyguitar riffs me thinks. Maybe you think that it's just another New York band with a "The" title but if it's a spade call it a spade - they are very good spades!! I'm talking shite!
MySpace here.

Video for my favourite song so far, HERE:

Santi x Jay-Z

Check out the new song by Jay-Z feature the Queen of 2008, Santogold! She's likely to be the Queen of 2009 after this! Not just because of the song but where it's going to be played..... on the soundtrack for the upcoming Biggie movie! I can only imagine the amount of people that will be going to see the movie and I sincerely hope that people won't be disapointed - I wasn't bowled over by the trailer to be honest. I was always more of a Tupac girl myself though so maybe that's why!

Oh and the track is produced by Kanye West and I have a sneaking suspicion that A-Trak may have had something to do with Kanye getting his hands on the Santogold sample - just a hunch!

Muscles

I've been meaning to write up a lil sumthin about this guy for ages but my terrible habit of accumulating a backlog of stuff has lead me to neglect him - sorry there now fella!
He's Australian and therefore signed to Modular (they have a bit of a monopoly over there!!). He hasn't been around for a great deal of time but for the little time that he has been around he has already managed to create a bit of contraversy.
Personally, I think it's all a bit blown out of proportion by people who like to see a good scrap - the guy was merely speaking his mind, admittedly, a little bit bluntly but at least he's being honest!!
Anyway, enough idle gossip, if you want scandal go to Perez Hilton, I'm not in the business of giving you that kind of information!

Contraversy aside, I really really like the music. He won my heart with "Ice Cream", a really catchy little electro pop number which features my mantra in life:
"ICE CREAM IS GONNA SAVE THE DAY"

There's also something about his voice, it has an addictive quality.... a bit like Tom Vek.

I'll leave you with Ice Cream and the latest single The Lake

A Milli Remix

Those of you who know me weel know how much I love this song and how much I wanna throw my arms around any DJ that's willing to play it when I'm out!

There's so many great remixes, notably the Chewy Chocolate Cookies version, but this latest one is REALLY FUCKING GOOD! It's a kind of world dub remix!

Go check it out at FAIRTILIZER!

I Have Band, You Have Band, We Have Band!

What a great name!! We Have Band is kind of like one of those phrases that get stuck in your head and you just want to say it all the time..... it's like verbal cystal meth (one would imagine!).

This bunch of Mancunians have barely been around a year and they have already signed to Kitsune for their debut single 'Oh!'. And if the song's anything to go by they shouldn't have to resort to anythig demeaning to get a permanent contract. Anyway, enough talk of contracts, none of that malark really matters!

They call themselves "a disco-rock trio"- I like that they're too up their own asses to define themselves a little, that's always nice! To me they're kind of like a modern day Human League if they had sex with The Teenagers (the band that is you dirty mongrels!!)

Anyway, decide for yourselves! And GET BAND and check out the MySpace.......

Tha' POSSE!

The Retro Kids started turning heads (and clocks back!) a few years ago in New York anywhere that would have them. Though some of you may think that the whole Fresh Prince throwback is some sort of elaborate game of dress up or a passing phase, the asymmetric Gumby hair would beg to differ! The dedication of this crew to their style is KERRR-ONIC!

These guys have started a movement in the Hip-Hop world which would have previously choked on their grills at the thought of wearing anything second hand. But now, looking like a cross between a member of Run DMC and Jazzy Jeff (with a little Boyz 2 Men when they first started!) is starting to overshadow the staple t-shirt and baggy jeans combo. You only have to look at people like Kid Cudi and The Cool Kids to see the transition that Hip Hop style is going through. And if you don't believe that then the proof is in The Source and Vibe!

Anyway, the eight members of the Retro Kids are not now not only turning up to all best parties in New York to be entertained. They have a new single and the album is not far behind.
For those of you who are already aware of these peeps you might find the message of the single a bit predictable (don't judge me because I'm living in the 80's and don't dress like a generic hip-hopper etc....) but who cares because it's a bloody BANGIN' number and most of all the video is a kaleidoscope of deliciousness!

Retro Kidz "New Era"

It's the new skool of the old skool!

I'm not in the business of giving full biographies (I prefer sights and sounds!!) but if you wanna know more go over to the MYSPACE. While you're there check out some of the other tunes (LOVE 'You're too cool') and the Armand Van Helden video which they featured in recently. You get the jeezy!

Reebok Freestyle X John Maeda - only 300 pairs in the whole wide world, only available in disgustingly cool places (as Rach would say!) but you should go to because that's the most disgusting.
